The Series 1 TARDIS team speak to Doctor Who Magazine about returning for a new series of audio adventures…
It’s been over twenty years since we last encountered the Ninth Doctor and Rose Tyler together in the TARDIS, but Christopher Eccleston and Billie Piper are set to return in August for a whole new series of audio adventures with Big Finish Productions. Among their fantastic travels through time and space, the new series will see the Doctor and Rose return to the Powell Estate, the London tower block known to fans as the home of Rose and her mother Jackie.
Doctor Who Magazine spoke to Eccleston and Piper about their new series – read an exclusive extract below.
Issue 619 of Doctor Who Magazine is on sale from Thursday 17th July. You can order it here.

Christopher Eccleston and Billie Piper on returning to the Powell Estate – first introduced on screen in 2005 – for their new series of audio adventures…
Billie Piper: "Coasting that line of domesticity and sci-fi is what gives the series so much heart. I think if you feel connected to the world that you see every day, then it means you can go off and have these fantastical adventures, and because it’s grounded in something that feels so familiar, you care more about the idea of it all being over."
Christopher Eccleston: “I understood, having come from a similar kind of estate myself. If you want youngsters to invest, they need… to see it, so they can be it. Planting it there, in the ordinary, if you like, was very important. That’s the beauty of the show: we can deal very much with the present and Earth as we know it, and we can travel to other areas of the galaxy. I think we’ve got a good balance in this series of Earthbound adventures and far-flung adventures.”
