As The Thirteenth Doctor Adventures debut from Big Finish Productions, Jodie Whittaker speaks to Doctor Who Magazine about her future relationship with the series…
After her surprise appearance in Season 2 finale The Reality War, Doctor Who fans didn’t have to wait long for more of the Thirteenth Doctor – as Jodie Whittaker and Mandip Gill return to the roles of the Doctor and Yasmin Khan, in a new series of audio adventures from Big Finish Productions.
As part of their Thirteenth Doctor special, Doctor Who Magazine caught up with Jodie and spoke about her return to the role, what it means to play the Doctor, and of course, the question every Doctor hears the most – “Would you ever return to the show?”

Jodie Whittaker on returning to Doctor Who:
"Would I come back to Doctor Who? Every time. I’d love to always be bobbing in, having a little moment in it, growing up within the show. Having bobbed up in my 30s, bobbed up in my 40s – I left Doctor Who when I was 39, bobbed up again when I was 42 – if I bob up in my 50s, bob up in my 60s… yes, please! There’s no part of me that doesn’t want to. That’s what I was trying to articulate to [showrunner] Russell T Davies: ‘Don’t forget about me. I would love to pop up.’ I didn’t think it’d be now! I genuinely thought it was going to be in, like, five or six years. But I now hope it’s every five or six years.
"But that’s what’s magical about the show: it celebrates everyone that’s been a part of this massive family. I was really lucky on my seasons, because [former showrunner] Chris Chibnall was so brilliant at referencing all of those years of Doctor Who – worlds of amazing companions and other Doctors. Such a precious thing. A proper gift. It’s the gift that keeps on giving."
