Jo Martin on her triumphant return as the Fugitive Doctor:
“We know she is going to change. Her attitudes to violence and getting the job done at any cost are changing. It’s great to see that gradual thawing of her character, because it’s true to life, isn’t it?
“We all go on journeys and have experiences. Those journeys and experiences – and the people we meet – change us. All of these things influence you, if you’re open to life and open to living – trying to understand what this thing called life really is, and what the world really is.
“Under it all, she’s about kindness and fairness. That’s what the Doctor stands for. All the Doctors. It goes through us, like a stick of rock. She’s always interested in what’s fair and what is right. The Doctor is all about that, even if their methods are different. She can be quite ruthless in the way she goes about things, but now she is beginning to question her own methods. She’s beginning to realise that she doesn’t always need a sledgehammer to deal with every problem she comes across."
