Spring 2026 marks 20 years since the broadcast debut of Doctor Who Series 2, in which the Tenth Doctor and Rose Tyler once again set off from the Powell Estate on a whole new series of adventures. To celebrate the occasion, The Whoniverse Show caught up with Camille Coduri, aka Rose’s mum Jackie Tyler, at the iconic shooting location for the Tyler family’s home estate in London.
Jackie is well-known amongst Doctor Who fans for her protective, prickly relationship with the Doctor, regardless of the regeneration – which has caused many to speculate just how she would react to the news that the Time Lord is currently sporting her daughter’s face! For the first time, Camille shares her thoughts on Billie Piper’s shock return to the series in THAT surprise regeneration at the end of The Reality War…
“I screamed!” admits Camille, who was watching the Season 2 finale at home. “Fantastic bit of television, wasn’t it?”
Responding to a fan question about what Jackie would say upon seeing the Doctor with Rose’s face, she confesses “There would be an expletive, probably.”
“I think she’d be furious and confused – ‘What does that mean? You’re not the Doctor, you can’t be! You’re a girl! Or are you?’”
But after the initial shock wears off, could we ever expect to see Jackie adjusting to – or even travelling with – a version of the Doctor that resembles her daughter?
“She’d be thinking about herself, she’s quite self-centred,” jokes Camille. “She’d be going ‘Where does that leave me? Well I’m not coming with you… alright I will come with you!’ All of that.”
Of course, when posed the question of where Jackie would most like to travel to in the TARDIS, outer space is officially off the table for Camille.
“Maybe back to an era, like the Swinging Sixties – where [Jackie] could make an impact.”
