The Haunting of Villa Diodati | The Power of the Doctor |
First known as a rumoured, mysterious "Lone Cyberman", Ashad was a partly-converted human who despised Humanity and wished to destroy all but the Cyber race. He killed his own children when they turned against the Cybermen, an example of his devotion to a cause that put the whole universe at risk. He was a Cyberman without an emotional inhibitor; dangerous, clever and manipulative as he put his plan into action.
The Doctor first encountered him in Switzerland of 1816 where his threatening, half-machine presence helped in part to inspire Mary Shelley to write Frankenstein. The final confrontation with Ashad and his army happened on Gallifrey, although it was the Master who destroyed him in his insane quest to build Cybermen out of Time Lords.
