As we discovered earlier this week, actor Matt Lucas is joining Team TARDIS for Doctor Who Series 10, but now we also know some of the writers coming up in 2017.
But, before that, we have another name to add to the guest cast list. Actress Stephanie Hyam will play a role in the new series due for broadcast next year. Hyam is known for her role as Lily Clarke in ITV's Jekyll & Hyde, and has also appeared in Peaky Blinders, Murdered By My Boyfriend, and Sherlock.
The opening episode of Series 10 is written by Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat, and is directed by Lawrence Gough (who helmed Pearl Mackie's introduction as Bill in Friend from the Future, and has worked on episode of shows such as Misfits and Atlantis).
Episode 2 in the new series comes from award-winning screenwriter Frank Cottrell-Boyce, the man behind the wonderful Twelfth Doctor adventure, In the Forest of the Night.
Other names confirmed for 2017 include writer of acclaimed episode Face The Raven, Sarah Dollard (check out her appearance on Doctor Who: The Fan Show above), and playwright Mike Bartlett, the man behind multi-award-winning BBC series, Doctor Foster (which starred Suranne Jones - Idris from The Doctor's Wife).
Filming begins on Series 10 in the next few days after this week's readthrough in Cardiff.
Doctor Who will return in December 2016 with a Christmas Special, followed by the new series starring Peter Capaldi, Pearl Mackie and Matt Lucas in 2017.
