Doctor Who will return for its much-anticipated eighth series on August 23, it has been confirmed - the first full series starring Peter Capaldi as the Twelfth Doctor.

A beautiful new iconic image was revealed, featuring the Twelfth Doctor and Clara (Jenna Coleman) in the TARDIS, and was accompanied by an explosive teaser trailer:

Prior to the series' return, Peter and Jenna will be jetting off on Doctor Who: The World Tour, meeting fans in Cardiff, London, Seoul, Sydney, New York, Mexico City and Rio de Janeiro.
Guest stars confirmed to join Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman in the new series, include Foxes, Frank Skinner, Ben Miller, Tom Riley, Keeley Hawes and Hermione Norris.
