When the Thirteenth Doctor encountered them, the Kasaavin had the form of bright white humanoid outlines, though they admitted to having chosen this form. They are a race who dwell outside of our universe, but who've managed to infiltrate humanity with spies, their forms able to pass through solid matter so that nowhere is safe from them - not even a TARDIS interior.
It was the Master's intention to exploit their presence and destroy the human race, but when the Doctor revealed his treachery and defeated these plans, the Kasaavin took him with them back to their own dimension.
