Taking on the mantle of Brigadier after the retirement of Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart, Winifred Bambera brings a keen military mind and a healthy dose of scepticism to the role of UNIT commander. Less experienced in the organisation’s more extra-terrestrial operations, Bambera has no knowledge of the Doctor prior to their first meeting – but an encounter with an army of knights from another dimension proves her ability to handle any threat to Earth with a clear head and strong sense of leadership.
