The Doctor has encountered some of the most famous women in human history – here are just some of them!
Mary Shelley
Who better would understand a man made of many parts than the author of Frankenstein? Mary Shelley helped the Doctor and the fam take on the Lone Cyberman when he appeared at the Villa Diodati.
Ada Lovelace
“Don’t have a TARDIS, do have an Ada!” When the Kasaavin trapped the Doctor in another realm, who could be better to have on her side than the mother of computers? Ada Lovelace was not only just a great mathematician, but proved a dab hand with throwing a grenade at the Master too.
Noor Inayat Khan
There’s no better ally than Noor when you’re trapped in Paris during World War Two! With the Master hot on the Doctor and Ada Lovelace’s heels, they were successfully hidden away by the first female wireless operator to be dropped behind enemy lines, Noor Inayat Khan.
Madame de Pompadour
Clockwork robots pursuing a young French girl called Reinette, a fireplace to 18th century France, and a horse on a spaceship? This mystery led the Doctor to the Palace of Versailles and the enchanting Madame de Pompadour, who walked into the Doctor’s mind as easily as he did hers.
Agatha Christie
The best-selling author of all time had a murder-mystery of her own when the Doctor and Donna crashed a 1920s tea party. A series of murders led to a Vespiform – or giant wasp – hunting down Agatha Christie! Luckily the Doctor and ‘plucky young girl’ Donna Noble were on hand to help.
Nefertiti
The Doctor needed backup when a spaceship filled with dinosaurs started crashing into Earth. Who better than an ancient Queen of Egypt? Queen Nefertiti joined the Ponds and the charismatic John Riddell from stopping the spaceship being blown to smithereens!
Queen Victoria
Accidentally landing in 1879 instead of 1979, the Doctor and Rose ended up bumping into Queen Victoria in Scotland. They then ran into a monastic cult who want to take the crown of the United Kingdom… using an alien werewolf! Luckily a trap was already prepared, and the Doctor used the largest diamond in existence to save the crown and country.
Queen Elizabeth I
The Day of the Doctor and The Shakespeare Code
What is up with the Doctor and queens? In The Day of the Doctor, the Doctor encountered not one but two Queen Elizabeths – albeit one was a Zygon duplicate! After dispatching the copy, Queen Elizabeth and the Doctor were wed, and he said he would be right back… He got there eventually in The Shakespeare Code.
Rosa Parks
Big fan! Rosa Parks’ protest on a bus in Montgomery was a crucial moment in history – one that the Doctor and the fam had to preserve and protect! Together, they made sure that the machinations of Krasko (a mass-murderer from the future) were unravelled and history was set on the correct path.
