Steven Moffat: Twelfth Doctor regeneration to be 'different'

Doctor Who boss Steven Moffat has been chatting about his career and, of course, Doctor Who on BBC Radio Four’s Front Row.

In front of an audience at the Hay Festival, broadcaster Samira Ahmed discussed Steven’s other television shows, such as Press Gang, Coupling and Sherlock, as well as working with director Steven Spielberg. You can listen to the full interview here.

The writer spoke about the Doctor Who Series 10 finale, stating that it “ends on quite an unexpected note”.

Steven, who leaves the show at the end of this year, spoke about this year regeneration where the Twelfth Doctor will become the Thirteenth (read our speculation ), he said:

“You all know that the mighty Peter Capaldi will be bowing out but we’re gonna do it slightly differently this time.

And I’ve been working with Chris [Chibnall, the incoming Doctor Who showrunner] about how we do the change over in a new way. I’m excited by it, I think it’s gonna work well.

Every regeneration’s different but we are playing it slightly differently this time. I think we’ve got a good idea.”
