Coming next month is a brand-new animation of a missing Doctor Who adventure, Fury from the Deep! The new design team is taking on this latest story, and Doctor Who Magazine has an interview with the new production team this month.
Doctor Who Magazine Issue #555 is on sale from Thursday 19th August 2020. It is available to order as a subscription, either physical or digital, here.

Fury from the Deep will vary in approach from other recent animations. As executive producer Gary Russell explains:
“Luke Marcatili, my co-director in Sydney, and I favoured the European-style, clean-line approach. I love things like Tintin and Asterix, and we were both drawn to shows like Archer for inspiration. Plus, we animate in Toon Boom Harmony rather than Adobe Animate that AnneMarie Walsh’s team used on The Faceless Ones, so that inevitably makes things look quite different.
“No animation program is better or worse than another, but they do have different strengths and weaknesses, so the Big Finish stories will never look the same as AnneMarie’s or Charles Norton’s productions [eg, The Power of the Daleks]. Which is good; it’s the same rationale as having different directors, set designers, cameramen etc in live-action Doctor Who. You each bring something different to the table.”
