1066: A Monk witnesses the arrival of the TARDIS, and seems to recognise it. He’s another time traveller, a member of the Doctor’s race with a ship of his own, but a very different view on interfering in history. The First Doctor prevents him from scuppering the Norman conquest of England and foils his plan to create a technological golden age 700 years too soon. The Doctor later encountered the Monk when both were caught up in the Daleks’ Master Plan. The Doctor stole the directional unit of the Monk’s TARDIS, leaving him unable to steer.
